8 years ago I shared Jesus to 80, and 69 yrs old

“Eight years ago, while riding a jeepney on my way home, I passed by R. Castillo and saw Nanay Pasitasal, 69, standing on a street corner. I felt prompted by the Spirit of God to get off the jeepney and share the Gospel with her. As I approached Nanay, Tatay, 66, arrived at the same corner on his tricycle, loaded with recyclable materials. I had the privilege of sharing the Gospel of Jesus with them, and they both received Christ into their hearts. That day reminded me that obedience to the gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit can change eternal destinies. A simple step of faith can open heaven for someone’s life. All glory and praise belong to Jesus.” 1 John 4:9 Niini gipadayag ang gugma sa Dios kanato: nga gisugo sa Dios ang iyang bugtong nga Anak nganhi sa kalibutan, aron nga mangabuhi kita pinaagi kaniya.

Things That Give the Enemy Legal Ground to Afflict People

The Scriptures reveal that the enemy often works through legal grounds when afflicting people. The Bible says:

“For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” — Hosea 6:6 (KJV)

God desires that His people walk in the knowledge of Him, because spiritual ignorance often leaves doors open for oppression.

The Word of God also says:

“As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.” — Proverbs 26:2

This means that curses and afflictions do not operate without a cause. Very often, there is something that gives the enemy a foothold or legal ground in a person’s life.

Satan functions within spiritual legality. A legal right is anything in our lives—whether through our actions, words, or foundations—that gives demonic powers permission to afflict, harass, or remain in someone’s life.

But God has not left us helpless. The Scripture declares:

“Through knowledge shall the just be delivered.” — Proverbs 11:9

When we receive the knowledge of God’s truth, we can identify and close the doors the enemy has used.

Below are some common ways the enemy gains legal access.

1. Sin — Especially Willful Sin

When we knowingly practice sin, we open doors to the enemy.

The deeper and more persistent the sin, the wider the door becomes for spiritual oppression.

Sin weakens spiritual protection and gives the adversary a place to operate.

2. Unforgiveness

Unforgiveness is one of the most common spiritual doors.

Jesus taught in Matthew 18:23–35 that those who refuse to forgive can be delivered to tormentors. Many understand these tormentors to represent demonic oppression.

When we refuse to forgive, we allow bitterness to remain, and that bitterness can become legal ground for torment.

Forgiveness closes that door.

3. Ungodly Soul Ties

A soul tie is a spiritual bond between two people.

Some soul ties are healthy, such as within marriage. However, ungodly soul ties—especially those formed through sexual immorality—can open doors to spiritual bondage.

The Bible warns:

“He that is joined unto an harlot is one body.” — 1 Corinthians 6:16

Sexual sin creates deep spiritual connections that can allow demonic influence to pass between individuals.

4. Demonic or Ungodly Vows

A vow can act like a spiritual agreement.

Some people knowingly make vows through occult involvement, secret societies, or witchcraft practices.

Others may unknowingly open doors through curiosity about the occult—horoscopes, fortune-telling, or forbidden spiritual practices.

These agreements can function like a spiritual signature, granting the enemy access.

5. Ancestral Sins and Foundations

The Bible shows that iniquities can affect generations.

“Visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children…” — Exodus 20:5

If ancestors were involved in idolatry, occult practices, or deep sin, it may create spiritual consequences within the family line.

Scripture also gives the remedy:

Leviticus 26:40–42 teaches confession and repentance of ancestral sins.

Even though we are not personally guilty of our ancestors’ sins, their effects can be renounced and broken through Christ.

6. Spoken Self-Curses

Words carry spiritual power.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” — Proverbs 18:21

Negative declarations such as “I wish I were dead,” “Nothing good will happen to me,” or “My life is cursed” can become self-curses.

Believers must learn to speak life, blessing, and faith.

7. Occult Objects and Idolatry

Objects dedicated to false worship or occult practices can carry spiritual influence.

These include idols, charms, occult books, talismans, and other items connected with witchcraft or pagan worship.

Scripture declares:

“And the idols he shall utterly abolish.” — Isaiah 2:18

The Bible also shows that cursed objects were destroyed or burned to remove their influence.

Homes and land can also be cleansed through repentance and prayer.

8. Childhood Rejection and Emotional Wounds

Many spiritual strongholds begin in childhood.

Rejection, abandonment, abuse, or neglect can create deep wounds that the enemy uses to introduce spirits of rejection, fear, or insecurity.

These wounds often require healing, deliverance, and restoration through Christ.

Final Word

The good news of the Gospel is that Jesus Christ has already defeated the works of the devil.

Through repentance, forgiveness, renouncing sin, and the authority of Christ, every legal ground can be removed.

“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” — 1 John 3:8

When the doors are closed and the blood of Jesus is applied, the enemy loses his claim.

And where Christ reigns, freedom begins.
