8 years ago I shared Jesus to 80, and 69 yrs old

“Eight years ago, while riding a jeepney on my way home, I passed by R. Castillo and saw Nanay Pasitasal, 69, standing on a street corner. I felt prompted by the Spirit of God to get off the jeepney and share the Gospel with her. As I approached Nanay, Tatay, 66, arrived at the same corner on his tricycle, loaded with recyclable materials. I had the privilege of sharing the Gospel of Jesus with them, and they both received Christ into their hearts. That day reminded me that obedience to the gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit can change eternal destinies. A simple step of faith can open heaven for someone’s life. All glory and praise belong to Jesus.” 1 John 4:9 Niini gipadayag ang gugma sa Dios kanato: nga gisugo sa Dios ang iyang bugtong nga Anak nganhi sa kalibutan, aron nga mangabuhi kita pinaagi kaniya.

Leviathan — The King of the Children of Pride

In this lesson, we explore the biblical revelation of Leviathan, a powerful symbol in Scripture associated with pride, deception, and the twisting of truth. The Bible presents Leviathan as a mighty serpent-like creature representing spiritual opposition and arrogance that resists God’s authority.

The Scriptures describe Leviathan as a terrifying creature that no human strength can control.

“He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.” — Job 41:34

This passage reveals Leviathan as the spiritual embodiment of pride and arrogance, influencing attitudes that exalt self above God.

The Biblical Picture of Leviathan

Throughout the Bible, Leviathan is depicted in several ways—sometimes like a dragon, serpent, or crocodile-like sea creature. These images represent the destructive and chaotic nature of pride and rebellion against God.

“In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent.” — Isaiah 27:1

This prophetic verse declares that God Himself will ultimately destroy the power represented by Leviathan.

Leviathan’s strategy is often subtle. Rather than attacking openly, it works through twisting communication, stirring conflict, and promoting prideful attitudes that disrupt relationships and weaken spiritual authority.

How Leviathan Operates

One of the primary ways Leviathan operates is through distorted communication. Words become twisted, misunderstandings increase, and relationships become strained.

The Bible warns about the destructive power of the tongue:

“A perverse tongue breaketh the spirit.” — Proverbs 15:4

When pride governs communication, people may:

·         Seek constant attention or recognition

·         Desire always to be right

·         Mock or belittle others

·         Become overly critical or judgmental

These attitudes reflect the influence of pride, which Scripture repeatedly warns against.

The Danger of Pride

Pride is one of the most serious spiritual dangers because it separates people from God’s grace.

“Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” — Proverbs 16:18

“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” — James 4:6

When pride takes root, it opens doors for spiritual oppression and division. It disrupts unity in families, churches, and communities.

The Fire of the Holy Spirit

While pride opens the door to Leviathan, the fire of the Holy Spirit brings purification and freedom.

John the Baptist spoke of the coming ministry of Christ:

“He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.” — Matthew 3:11

The fire of the Spirit refines the believer, burning away pride, selfish ambition, and hidden motives. Through repentance and surrender to the Holy Spirit, the internal strongholds that empower Leviathan can be destroyed.

The Path to Freedom

Victory over Leviathan begins with humility and repentance. The Bible gives a clear promise:

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” — James 4:10

As believers humble themselves before God, several transformations occur:

·         Pride is replaced with humility

·         Criticism gives way to encouragement

·         Conflict is replaced by peace

·         Communication becomes filled with grace and truth

Life Application

To guard against the influence of pride and Leviathan:

1.      Practice humility before God.
Recognize that every gift and ability comes from Him.

2.      Guard your words.
Speak truth with grace rather than criticism.

3.      Seek the refining work of the Holy Spirit.
Allow God to purify motives and attitudes.

4.      Pursue unity in relationships.
Refuse to participate in strife or division.

Final Promise

Scripture assures believers that the power of the enemy will not prevail against those who walk in Christ’s authority.

“And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.” — Romans 16:20

Through humility, repentance, and the refining fire of the Holy Spirit, believers can overcome pride, silence the voice of Leviathan, and walk in the freedom and unity that God desires.
